This is a close up if some carrot cake which is something that I love, and thus cannot live without. I wanted to focus on the thickness of the icing and the crumbly but moist texture of the cake. I think that I captured this very well in this photograph. I also think I have used the rule of thirds effectively as well. There is also a shallow focus on this photograph for the focus to be on the thick sweet icing. if ii were to improve this photograph I would take photograph that incorporates more of the overall cake.
